Orange County contracts with
Advanced Disposal.
A new schedule was sent to the residents of Waterford Pointe in
late 2008 but the schedule was incorrect. The notice
indicated that Lawn Waste would be picked up on Friday along
with Garbage and Recyclables.
Regardless of what the notice read, the new schedule for Waterford Pointe
is as follows:
- TUESDAYS:
Garbage Only
- WEDNESDAYS:
Lawn Waste
- FRIDAYS:
Garbage & Recyclables
As per Advanced Disposal ...
"To ensure proper pickup, all items for collection
should be placed curbside no later than 6:00AM."
If you have questions, or if your service is
unacceptable, you
may call the Orange County Utilities Solid Waste Hotline at
407-836-6601 or send an email to solid.waste@ocfl.net. Some
examples of unacceptable service would be:
1
|
Speeding or
other unsafe driving inside of Waterford Pointe;
|
2
|
Not picking up your Garbage, Recyclables
or Lawn Waste from your home;
|
3
|
Not picking up all of your Garbage, Recyclables
or Lawn Waste;
|
4
|
Throwing empty trash or recycling containers about your
property or in the street;
|
5
|
Damaging trash or recycling containers due to
unnecessarily rough
treatment;
|
6
|
Spewing garbage about your property or in the street;
|
7
|
Shouting, cursing or
other inappropriate behavior.
|
If unacceptable service is not reported, it will
surely continue. Should you experience any of these
conditions, it's best to report it by calling AND sending an email
so that you have a permanent record of the
complaint.
So again, it's ...

HOLIDAY SCHEDULES:
When a holidays falls on a normally scheduled day, Orange County will
send out a mailing to every homeowner advising of the new
altered schedule for that week only.
HAZARDOUS WASTE:
At no time, can you set Hazardous Waste out for pickup. It
is illegal and the drivers could be seriously injured. So-
from time-to-time Orange County will announces the location of a
one-day pickup zone for Hazardous Waste. This may or may
not be convenient. You may opt to deliver the Hazardous
Waste yourself at the Transfer Station on L.B. McLeod
Road. You may dump most materials at this location
(including Hazardous Waste) but you may only dump Hazardous
Waste on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8AM-5PM. Hazardous
Waste Materials are things as simple as batteries, glass
computer screens (CRT's), paint cans - either full or empty,
chemicals, etc. There is no charge for dumping Hazardous
Waste. Charges do apply for other items. For
instance ... $30 for appliances (stove, refrigerator,
etc.). $30 for Furniture (sofas, beds, dressers, etc.).
SENIORS:
If you are a senior citizen, are disabled or cannot drive an
vehicle, you can call "Sweep for Seniors" at
407-836-1414. This is a volunteer organization that will
pick up your Hazardous Waste. Someone will call you back
to schedule a pickup time and date. Unfortunately, this
does not appear to be a very dependable service. Sometimes
it works and other times when you call the number, a recording
informs you that they are no longer offering the service.

Bright
House (Cable TV, Internet & Quasi Telephone Service)
This is somewhat of a worthless contact unless you are looking
for it when you don't need it. It's like trying to find a
roofer during a hurricane.
Bight House offers three (3) ways to report service outages or
just poor service such as their chronic, fuzzy "lower
channel" problem:
Option No. 1:
As long as you do not have their telephone service, you can call their office at 407-291-2500
to report service problems.
They
may not talk to you unless you give them your Social Security
Number. This is NOT a misprint. So - if you do
in fact have their telephone service or if you find it
incredibly dangerous to give your Social Security Number to a
Bright House "Customer Service" person, you can
skip to Option No. 2 or 3 below instead.
Option No. 2:
If you are fortunate enough to have Internet service from
another provider when Bright House's service goes down, then you may click
HERE
to report your Bright House service problem. If you use
Bright House for Telephone and/or Internet, then your email
and web services are more than likely inoperative too so you
might want to try Option No. 3 below instead.
Option No. 3:
This high-tech approach to trouble reporting seems to work the
best: is If all else fails, you can drive to
their office, which is located at 844 Maguire Road - Ocoee, FL
34761. That's always a great deal of fun.
A few other things to know about Bright House:
If a Bright House cable technician needs to enter a
carpeted area of your home with mud on their shoes, they will
NOT remove them. They'll tell you that their
"insurance" does not allow them to take their muddy
shoes off. It's better to know this in advance so
that you can have a supply of paper towels or disposable cloth booties on hand -
the type that are sold at Lowes or Home Depot.
If the power goes out, their Internet service and quasi
telephone service
is totally inoperative. If the power outage is one that
effects their terminal boxes, their television service is gone
as well.
